Welcome to the Leeds Chapter for the Society of Economic Geologists. We are a student led society, based in the University of Leeds. We learn about mineral exploration, extraction and the business side of things. Our job is to give you a taste of the industry and at the end of the day, help you get a job!
We have gained sponsorship from several companies to help fund fieldtrips including our stay in Vancouver for the Roundup 2017 conference. We organise extra curricular fieldtrips to different examples of mineralisation in the UK. These are usually active or disused mines. Field trips for 2017/18 will visit sites of gold, base metals, and tungsten mining, check out the events page for further information.

We also organise a program of external speakers, with involve informal social sessions afterwards. This is your chance to start networking: before you are looking for a job! Many of our members have gained well paid, relevant summer work experience/jobs in Australia or Canada as early as first year summer.
